Jacqueline Mary du Pré (1945-1987) was a British cellist. At a young age, she achieved enduring mainstream popularity. Despite her short career, she is regarded as one of the greatest cellists of all time. Her career was cut short by multiple sclerosis, which forced her to stop performing at the age of 28.
Her husband Daniel Barenboim, is a pianist and conductor.
